TJ Vance, age 86, resident of Haysville, KS, passed away, Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Glen Carr Memory House in Derby, KS.
Visitation with family present from 9:30-11am, with Services following at 11am, Friday, March 31 at Shinkle Mortuary, Haysville. Burial to follow at Waco Cemetery.
TJ Vance was born on August 20, 1936 to Lewis Riley and Edith Marie (Sanderson) Vance at Coffeyville, KS. As a young boy he grew up in Bartlett, KS and graduated from Labette County Community High School. He served in the Army Reserves for eight years and was in a tank division. TJ was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Masons.
TJ retired from Boeing Aircraft after thirty-eight years. He loved to travel and discover new places and adventures. He was able to travel to six continents. TJ enjoyed paragliding over the Fjords, climbing the harbor bridge in Sydney and walking the Inca trail in Peru, the great wall in China and snorkeling in the Caribbean.
TJ is survived by his wife, Gloria, of sixty-four years; sons, Thomas Jay of Wichita and Richard Todd of Haysville; granddaughters, Ashley (Chris) Rodriguez and great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Everett of Dallas GA, Alli (Jay) Finn and great-granddaughter, Zoey of Queen Creek, AZ. One sister, Jaqueline Williams of Columbus, KS and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willa Dean Aldrich and Faye Norlene Molitor; one brother, James Riley Vance.
