Robert Soldan Obituary

Soldan, Robert K. Jr., March 8, 1926 - May 8, 2022

Retired from Schlumberger Well Services. Employed 33 years as Division Mechanic for the Kansas division. After retirement from Schlumberger he worked 15 years for Ryder Truck Rental. He was born in Salina, Ks to Robert K Soldan Sr & Frances Soldan. He was the 3rd child in a family of 12 children and as an early teen, he went to work to help support the family. He was associated for over four years with his father in operating the Soldan Radiator Repair in Salina, Ks. Bob served as Staff Sargent in WW2 in the Army Air Corp in the Philippines. He was married to the former Lois Grim March 20, 1950 in Beverly, Ks. They made their hole in several oil boom towns in Kansas and Pampa, Tx. He grew up in the Great Depression and had the analytical mind to repair anything. He was an active member of West Haysville Baptist Church. He was a great patriot and was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, watching birds and wild life and giving treats to the neighborhood animals on his morning walks. He was an avid Hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. Great family memories remain from adventures throughout the 48 states, Canada and Alaska.He enjoyed his buddies at the coffee shop. He was a man who took great pride in his children’s aspirations. He is survived by his wife, Lois of 72 years of marriage, bothers Steve of Washington state and Mike of New York state, son Alan and Jodie of Topeka, Ks, daughter Leigh and Jon McMurtrey of Georgetown, Tx, son Kyle and Cheryl Soldan of Wichita, Ks, 6 grandchildren; Jade, Ryan, Abby, Jordan, Dennis, Constance and 6 great grandchildren; Ethan, Estella, Giana, Aria, Skylar and Kehlani. He is preceded in death by brothers and sisters Porter, Betty, Cynthia, Ralph, John, Bill, Dan, Carl, and June and 1 great grandchild Penelope.

Our family would like to thank Rivercross Hospice and Westview Long Term Care for the wonderful care given to our loved one. Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 13, at 10:00 am at West Haysville Baptist Church, 141 North Lamar, Haysville, Ks. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Beverly Community Cemetery, Beverly, Ks.
