Peggy S. (Robbins) Gregory, ret. Middle School Educator, age 70, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at her home in Milton surrounded by her family.
Visitation, Wednesday, February 9th, with family present, 6-8pm. Funeral Services, 10am, Thursday, February 10th, BOTH at Trinity United Christian Church, Cheney. A Lunch will follow funeral services at The White Barn, Cheney, KS.
Committal Services, 2:30pm, Thursday, Clearwater Cemetery.
Peggy was born in Wichita, KS on May 1st, 1951. She always loved reminiscing about her early life on the farm with her parents and older siblings near Viola, KS. She graduated from Cheney High School in 1969. While attending Friends University, she married Roger Kent Gregory on July 16th, 1971. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Colorado this past summer. Peggy graduated from Friends University in 1973 with a degree in education and spent the next 40 years as an educator and coach at Cheney USD 268, Goddard USD 265, and Renwick USD 267. She later received her Master’s Degree in Technology Education from Kansas State University in 1999.
Young women’s advancement and opportunities in athletics was always a passion for her. She began coaching basketball in 1973 when Title IX was passed to allow young women to play sports in high school. Her coaching career continued in volleyball, basketball, and track until 2007.
Peggy was loved by her students, coworkers, and friends but will be the most missed by her family. A beloved mom and Nana, she always was excited to cook, travel, or shop with her children and grandchildren.
Preceded by her parents, Milton and Doris (Boyles) Robbins; sister, Karen Porter; brother, John Robbins. Survivors: husband, Roger; daughters, Rochelle (Brian) Rosenhagen of Cheney, Meredith (PJ) Beavers of Cheney; son, Ross (Tucker Swanson) Gregory of Lawrence; brother, Jim (Carolyn) Robbins of Milton; sister, Nancy (Doug) Bolinger of Cheney; grandchildren, Greta, Grace, Eliza, Grant, and Merritt.
