Clearwater - Karen L. (Morrison) Stearns, age 86, ret. Clearwater High School Secretary, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020.
Visitation, 9am-7pm, Thursday, September 3, 2020, with family present, 5:30-7pm, Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel. Services, 10am, Friday, September 4, 2020, First Christian Church.
Karen was born on Friday, September 15, 1933 in Clearwater, Kansas, to her parents Ira Clyde Morrison and Martha Isabella (Schoeppel) Morrison. She lived her entire life in Clearwater. She attended school in Clearwater, graduating in 1951. She was united in marriage to Max Delos Stearns on September 26, 1952 in Clearwater. Karen worked for Boeing Aircraft for 14 years. After having her children, she went to work for Clearwater High School as the secretary for 22 years before she retired.
Karen planted a big vegetable garden when she was first married and enjoyed planting flowers. She was involved in her boys and their activities, such as class parties, parade floats, swim lessons, scouts, birthday parties, sleepovers, campouts, fishing, and spending weekends and summers at the cabin. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Max, on December 30, 2006.
Preceded by parents, Clyde and Martha (Schoeppel) Morrison; husband, Max; granddaughter, Taralyn Stearns; sisters, Roberta Darling, Virginia Steinmetz; brother, Roy Morrison. Survivors: sons, Lenn (Linda) Stearns of Peck, Layne (Lori) Stearns of Clearwater; brother, Kent (Flo) Morrison; sister, Glenda (Mike) Peck, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Mandi (Keith) Youngers, Kaitlin (Dallas Nitschke) Stearns, Derek Stearns, Alex Latham, Cole (Kaitlin Davis) Stearns, Brandon (Ashley) Clark, Kristen (Tim) Hein; 5 great-grandchildren.
