Janelle Lynne (Hunt) Pritchard was born on April 10, 1945 in Wichita, KS. She passed away Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, in Tucson, AZ, after a short illness at age 74. Services, Friday, March 6th, 2pm, Belle Plaine First United Methodist Church. Janelle grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1963. She then earned her teaching degree in physical education from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS in 1967. She taught for one year at the Great Bend High School and went on to become the Women’s Physical Education instructor at Sterling College in Sterling, KS from 1968-1978. She coached women’s volleyball, swimming, tennis, and basketball. She was the first woman to be inducted in the Sterling College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. After moving to Colorado Spring, CO in 1981 she had her own women’s clothing store, “Janelle’s Tall Shoppe”, for seven years. She concluded her working career in 2003 with the United States Postal Service. Janelle was preceded in death by her father, Howard N. Hunt and her sister, Sharon K. Maninger. She is survived by her mother Dorothy J. Hunt of Belle Plaine; husband, Lynn Pritchard of Colorado Springs, CO; her daughter Stacy (Mark) LaMourey of Colorado Springs,CO, daughter Amy (Chad) Stewart of Montrose, CO, her nephew Galen Maninger of Wellington, KS and her grandchildren, Mady, Dathan, Kacy and Brooklynne. Janelle loved spending time with and caring for her family. She enjoyed being active, playing games, and riding her motorcycle. She never met a stranger and had the warmest caring heart.
