Goddard - Galan P. Craig, age 80, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021. Services, 10am, Fri. Nov. 26th, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater.
Galan was born on Tuesday, January 28, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the second of three children born to Carl Eugene Craig and Jeanette Frances (Parks) Craig. He grew up on a farm on Route 8 in Wichita, later known as 55th Street between Hoover and Ridge Road. He attended Clearwater Schools, playing football, basketball, and ran track. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Corrine Spivey on July 1, 1960 at Haysville United Methodist Church. They lived near his parents farm on 55th Street after being married, then they moved to the farm at 4308 S. Ridge Rd, then to farm in Goddard and finally into town in Goddard. Galan worked for KGE/Oneok for 40 years, first as a meter reader then as supervisor. He also framed in Goddard, Schulte, Rose Hill and Clearwater areas.
Galan loved working and playing on the farm with his sister, Janatha and brother, Larry. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, Gene B. and Gene H. and Jim J, riding horses, participating in sports through high school then playing basketball in the Industrial League in Wichita, and he played racquetball. He enjoyed watching kids, and grandkids in sports. He loved farming with his dad, brother, Larry, and nephew Scott. Trout Fishing in the summers in Buena Vista, Colorado was a grand time to spend with family.
Galan was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine (Spivey) Craig; son, Monty; parents, Carl and Jeanette (Parks) Craig. Survivors: daughters, Robin (Brad) Becker of Maize, Shelly Jones of Coffeyville; son, John (Erin) Craig of Goddard; daughter-in-law, Laureen (Paul) Thill of Wichita; sister, Janatha Vining of Independence, KS; brother, Larry (Connie) Craig of Clearwater; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.
