Florence DeMott

Peck- Florence A. (Cox) DeMott, age 81, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Florence was born February 12, 1936 in Pleasanton, Kansas to Jarrott H and Ida (Castle) Cox.She married Delton LaVerne DeMott on January 26, 1957 in Pleasanton Kansas. They moved to Kansas City after getting married. Delton went into the Air Force and the family was stationed in Big Springs, Texas From there they moved to Bittburg Germany. The family later moved to Wichita, Kansas where Delton was stationed at McConnel Air Force Base. Florence went to school for two years at Pittsburg State University before she getting married. After staying at home with her two young children she went back to school once they were in school full time. She received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching Secondary Schools from Wichita State University with an emphasis in Business and Accounting Education, and her Masters Degree from Kansas State University in Supervision. She taught at Business and Computer studies at South High School for 16 years before becoming Curriculum Director of Business and Computers for the Wichita Public Schools. Visitation, 9am-7pm, Tues, June 20th, with family present 5:30-7pm. Services, 2pm, Wed, June 21, BOTH at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater.Preceded in death by her parents Jarrott and Ida (Castle) Cox; brothers Robert and Richard Cox. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Delton DeMott; children Deborah DeMott (Jon Garfield) of Albany, CA; Jeff (Vicki) DeMott , Wichita, KS; grandchildren Katherine Humphries (Nathanael), Jacob (Jaqueline) DeMott both of Goddard, KS, and Teddy and Hannah DeMott- Garfield of Albany, CA; great-granddaughter Lillian DeMott of Goddard KS; brother Jarrott P.
