Schnelle, Howard D.

 

Schnelle Howard smaller  Howard Duane Schnelle, age 85, passed away at Via-Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS on September 17, 2015. Howard was born on March 18, 1930 to John Royal Schnelle and Marguarite (Stone) Schnelle at the family farm home in rural Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Howard was united in marriage to Evelyn Joy Keltner on December 9, 1950 in Medicine Lodge, KS; to this union six children were born. Howard served in the U.S. Army durig the Korean War. He served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon in the Baptist Churches he attended; also singing in the quartets over many years. Howard worked for Kansas Gas and Electric and Westar Energy for 32 years, retiring in 1992. 

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Merle, and Allen Schnelle, and three sisters, Ethel McDaniel, Ave Metzger, and Willa Mae Magruder.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn of the home; three sons, Howard Duane Schnelle II (Brenda) of Indianapolis, IN; David Owen Schnelle (Cindi) of Orlando, FL, and Steven Michael Schnelle (Emmy) of Medicine Lodge, KS; three daughters, Rebecca Lynn Martin (Garry) of St. Augustine, FL; Gayla Dawn Fisk (Steve) of Altamont, KS; Teresa Ann McCullough (Jeff) of Cheney, KS. Along with 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchidlren, and two brothers, Lyle Schnelle of Pahrump, NV, and Dennis Schnelle of Meade, KS; one sister, Rita Schnelle of Wichita, KS. Along with a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Medicine Lodge, KS, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2 pm. with graveside services immediately following in Highland Cemetery in Medicine Lodge, Ks.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby (Dinges) Jones; son-in-law, Kevin Williams. She was united in marriage to Carl Junior Shackelford on July 14, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2013.  

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl; her parents, Marion and Margaret (Goertzen) Anderson; sister, Mary Rajtarl and brother, Marion "Bud" Anderson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Nick) Kakoulias of Conway Springs; son, Carl Jay (Tracy) Shackelford of Wichita; sister, Beverly Hambelton of Wichita; grandchildren, Tommy Kakoulias, Ryan Shackelford, Steve Kakoulias, Rachelle Shackelford, Janelle Shackelford, Nikki Kakoulias; great-grandson, Aden Shackelford.
