Jackson, Evelyn M.

Evelyn Mary (Foerster) Jackson, age 93, of Joplin, Missouri, retired Founder, Director, Teacher of Good Shepherd Preschool in Joplin, Missouri, passed away, Monday, April 6, 2015, in Derby, KS.

Memorial service will be held Friday, April 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Prairie Flower Bible Church, 767 Prairie Flower Rd, Webb City, MO. Evelyn was born July 19, 1921, in Baltimore, MD.

She married Joseph Warren Jackson on October 14, 1945, in Washington, D.C. Evelyn also was a Junior High Home Economics Teacher in Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and a sister, Dorothy Sweeney. Survivors: children, Jonathan Jackson of Renton, WA, Sharon (Kevin) Whitman of Derby, KS, and Peyton Jackson of Moore, OK.; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Memorials: Gideon’s International, 7758 County Lane 168, Carthage, MO 64836.

Memorial service Friday, April 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm, at the First Christian Church in Clearwater.

 

She was born on October 1, 1936, in Alva, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Viola Bixler; husband of 31 years, Gary, and an infant sister

 

Her survivors include her children, Jeff Silvertooth of Tucson, AZ, Bruce Duncan of Centennial, CO, Alaina (Duncan) Metcalfe of Tucson, AZ, and Juli (Silvertooth) Bottenberg of Seattle, WA.; sister, Barbara Hildinger of Grland, TX; 9 grandchildren.

 

A memorial has been established with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Administration Office, 1110 N. Emporia, Wichita, KS 67214.

Wagner, Betty L.

Wagner Betty 4 Betty L. (Brooks) Wagner, age 90, retired RN, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

Visitation, 1pm-5pm, Sunday, March 15th, with family present 3:30-5pm, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater. Services, 2pm, Monday, March 16th, First Baptist Church, Clearwater. 

Betty was born on Wednesday, April 2, 1924 in Mayfield, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children born to Charles Thomas Smith and Clara Frances Dial Smith. Betty lived in Mayfield until her mother’s death in 1930. She then moved to Halstead to live with her Aunt Jean and Uncle Irvin Brooks. They adopted her in December of 1934. She graduated from Halstead High School in May of 1942. Betty graduated from Nurses Training in September of 1945. 

Betty was united in marriage to Wilbur Wayne Wagner on January 6, 1946 in Halstead. They stayed in Lindsay, California where she worked as an RN Supervisor for 3 months. They lived in  Wichita until January 1966 when they built their home north of Clonmel in rural Viola, Kansas. 

Betty started her RN career in Wichita, with short breaks when her children were born. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a staff nurse from March 1947-January 1948. She was a staff nurse at St. Francis Hospital from February 1948-November 1951 and as General floor duty and supervisor from July 1954-1960. She was a staff nurse at Columbia Wesley Medical Center from July 1960-1989, she also worked as General Duty and Supervisor. The last 13 years at Wesley she worked on the Oncology Floor. She retired from Columbia Wesley Medical Center in April of 1989. 

Betty’s hobbies include reading, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. 

She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Charles and Clara (Dial) Smith; adoptive parents, Irvin & Jean Brooks; husband of 50 years, Wilbur; children, Rita and Duane Wagner; siblings, Earl, Charles and Howard Smith, Virginia Schavey. Survivors: daughter, Linda Taggart of Clearwater; granddaughter, Angela Taggart of Wichita.

A memorial has been established with First Baptist Church, 306 E. Ross, Clearwater, Kansas 67026.

Beulah was born on Sunday, February 11, 1917 in Goddard, Kansas. She was the youngest of four daughters born to Harry and Lena (Schroeder) Higbee, She graduated from North High School in Wichita, in 1934. She was united in marriage to Victor D. Aaron on June 5, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas. She worked as Secretary/Bookkeeper for Goddard School System from 1957-1971. She was then City Clerk for Goddard from 1971-1979, when she retired. Beulah’s hobbies included quilting and flower gardening. 
Preceded by parents, Harry and Lena (Schroeder) Higbee; husband, Victor, who passed away on November 27, 2003; sisters, Edna Pfeifer, Vera Bair, & Verna Higbee. Survivors: Vickie Carter of Wichita; grandchildren, Erik (Julie) Carter, Kellie Boles, great-grandchildren, Dillon, Drew and Cali Carter, & Braedan Boles.
