Marvin E. Paul, age 83, of Wichita, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010. Visitation, 9am-4pm, Wed at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary. Rosary 7pm, Wed. Funeral Mass, 10am, Thurs, both at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte. Memorial: St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Marvin E. Pauly, age 83, of Wichita, retired Santa Fe Trail Trucking clerk, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010.
Marvin Edward Pauly was born August 17, 1926 in Clonmel, Kansas. He was the youngest of 8 children born to Ben and Anna (Nilles) Pauly. He was the largest of the triplets weighing a little over 3 lbs. In those days, they were so frail that they were kept in a shoe box.
On September 20, 1950, he was drafted into the Army. He was almost through boot camp when his father passed away on September 28, 1950. Due to his mother’s illness, he was granted a hardship release to care for her and his special needs sister. His mother passed away on June 11, 1951.
On May 3, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ann Becker. They lived in the Garden Plain house until 1965. From there they decided to move to Schulte where they currently reside. Marvin was very involved in Knights of Columbus. He was Grand Knight from 1978-1980 for Clonmel-Schulte K of C council #3114.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Anna; brothers, Gregory and Ralph; and sisters, Mildred Werner, Martha Reno, Marjorie Pauly, Mary Pauly. Survivors: wife of 58 years, Ann; sons, Ivan (Kathryn) Pauly of Cheney, Joel Pauly of Wichita; daughters, Carol (Kenneth) Carter of Valley Center, Dena (David) Schopf of Wichita, Connie (David) Irey of Wellington; brother, Virgil (Cyrilla) Pauly of Wichita; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
