Phyllis Lea (Winn) Shannon, age 79, homemaker, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010. Visitation, 9am-8pm, Tues, with family present, 6-7:30pm, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel. Graveside Services, 10am, Wed, at Clearwater Cemetery.
Phyllis was born March 23, 1931 in Harper, Kansas. She was the only child born to her parents, Clifford and Lucile "Carol" Winn. She lived in Clearwater, Kansas for a short time as a small child. They moved to Kingman where she received most of her education and stayed there after graduation from high school until her marriage in 1954.
On April 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to James "Jim" Shannon in Kingman, Kansas. They resided in Clearwater, Kansas all of their married life. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2009.
Phyllis worked for Southwestern Bell in Kingman from 1948-1954. She also sold Avon from 1969-1971 and delivered the Wichita Eagle and The Beacon from 1970-1974. She was also a hairdresser from 1980-1986. She was a 50 year member of OES-Ninnescah Chapter #423. She loved taking care of her cats and any strays that would come along. She also enjoyed sewing and watching sewing shows on T.V. and working on various crafts.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Ron Shannon of Burlington, KS; daughter, Tami (Bill) Hedges of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren, Janelle Hedges, Ryan Hedges.
